Hi there, lovely wee piece. You missed out on BFG's Corsair range (and art!) and Forge World's own Corsair reintroduction with the Doom of Mymeara - the eldar pirates didn't exactly vanish in the 90s as such, but came back first in space ships, and then with jetpacks like the art from RT you share :).

You can also argue that in 1998/9, the introduction of the Dark Eldar was also something that paid here to the RT idea of pirates (but it was also built on the idea of chaotic Eldar too, and fantasy dark elf impulses too).

In addition you also have other touches - in BL, in Iyanden's lore too, that paid heed to Eldar corsairs and pirates over the intervening years.

However I understand this is more of a personal piece, and it's lovely for it :)

It took me over 30 years to realize that the Eldar and Dark Eldar were the equivalent of the Vulcans and Romulans in Star Trek. Only after watching a samurai/ninja vulcan in Picard did I come to the realization.

I'd not seen in in that way, interesting!

It's also possible I just made that up in my head, the concept of good and evil elves is probably as old as time. So the Vulcans and the Romulans are probably an anecdote for that, with 40k reaching further back in time, but also drawing inspiration from the pop culture of the time.

I don't know how popular Star Trek was in Great Britain at the time.
